This, My Journey

Good morning.
It is getting ready to storm here, so I had better get something posted quickly. I do not want your post to be late. Hope that you are doing well. I am. The book is doing better than any of the others have, so far. To God be the glory for Who He is and for the things that He has done.

Doing What I Can, While I Can Because I Care,
Alma L. Stepping On Jones

When I started on my journey
That would lead me to I know not where
The destination did not matter to me at all
As long as my God would be there.

Now, I'm a dusty and weary old traveler
Whose mission has always been
To bring encouragement and joy
To the lives of my fellowmen.

I did it through stories as a child
And my satisfaction was in beholding
A weary one's smile.

Now, that I have traveled to many ports of call
And have brought souvenirs back from ports, all
I am better equipped to encourage someone
Who has had a recent fall.

When I traveled to the island of hard knocks
And was gifted the souvenir of using
Whatever was at hand to get a job done
I became skilled at teaching others
How to pray and work and have some fun
While telling the world that Jesus is the One
Who could carry you through your ups and your downs
And shelter you from the waves of weariness
That rush at you and threaten to overwhelm you
No matter what you try to do.

From the port of perseverance, I brought back
Some persistence that I knew I needed
And that I also knew I lacked.

I have visited these ports of call
And others, too numerous to recall
But, when I peruse the souvenirs
That line my shelf of faith upon my wall
I am reminded of a lesson learned
And try to pass it on to all.

To Ponder:
  1. Is this referring to a literal traveler? Explain.
  2. Can you name other ports-of-call the traveler may have visited? Explain.
