Hello everyone. It is my sincere hope that your day went well...
The poem that I gave you to work with on Wednesday, were you able to do anything with it at all? Oh, some of you were able to build positive and negative senarios and others not, huh? Those of you who were able to do what I asked with relative ease, good! I am proud of you. Those of you who found the task daunting! That's okay, let's get to work on it now shall we? It is not as hard as you might think.
I will go ahead and repost the poem so that you can have it before you and not have to try to remember what it said, okay?
The barrenness of winter covers the trees
Stripped of their foliage - their leaves
The southern landscape hit with an Arctic breeze
That causes car batteries to deaden
And water pipes to freeze.
The above verse denotes a storm. It seems to be a bleak setting at best. This seems to be a weather phenomenon that did not happen often in this locale. The dead batteries and frozen water pipes denote an eagerness for the Arctic blast to be over. This can be likened to our lives today, when we are going through a storm that is not literal. We often wonder how long it will last, don't we? Let's all remember to look for a blessing in that storm. I know that sometimes that seems just plain impossible. But remember who holds the storms, the world and us in HIS hands.
But the soul remains warm inside
As a way is made homeward
To sip a bowl of stew in warm comfort and ease
Knowing that the storm is most over
And plans are being made to please
Knowing that adverse happenstance will
Never again be allowed, joy to seize.
Positive Scenario:
Man, sure will be glad when this Arctic blast is over. Glad the crock pot was put on before we left. B-r! It is so cold. Bless Marta's heart. She, no matter how tired she is, always prepares fresh bread and has baked sweet potatoes. She always says that the potatoes, on a day like this one, would stick to your ribs. Anyway, GOD plans the days as HE wills. We are just blessed to see another day is what I say.
Negative Scenario:
Man, sure will be glad when this storm is over! I am so sick of not seeing the sun. I hate cold weather. We never have this kind of weather here. If I had wanted this type of weather, I would have moved to Alaska. I tell you one thing, Marta better not meet me at the door with a blasted sweet potato! Not today! I'm not in the mood for stew either!
Now that you have read the two scenarios, which one do you think will be the most likely to look for a blessing in a figurative storm in life? Which one do you think will dwell on Romans 8:28 more? With which one do you think the LORD will be pleased by their faith? Exactly!
Let me leave you with one last thing on storms. One day, there will be no more storms. We know that a place is being prepared for us but we have to retain our faith to the end. Though your storm(s) may be heavy, remember that our GOD, our FATHER and our FRIEND, dwells on high. And you know what else, HE is preparing a place for us that we cannot imagine. All we have to do is wait on HIM because HE is faithful and HE knows everything that happens to you and to me and HE does care for us.
