"Ultimately!" What a word! What a word! What does this word mean and why am I so fascinated with it? Just hold your horses and I will tell you why I love this word so much and I hope that when I finish my exposition that you will feel the same way about it. The word, ultimate(ly), is defined as maximum, final or supreme. I like to say that it means, "When all has been said and all has been done, 'The buck stops here.'" Now I want you to hold on to that thought for me, because I am going someplace with it. I'll be there in a minute or so. All I ask you to do for me is, if, at the end of this blogging session, your load has been lightened or if you have been given a better perspective on handling stressful situations, then pass the blessing on to somebody else. That's all I ask, okay? Okay, here we go!
I was not there when "...the foundation of the earth was laid, its measurements were set, its bases were sunk and its cornerstone laid. I was not there when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of GOD shouted for joy..." Job 38 I am not going to take the time to cite all of that reading here, but you would do well to read it, if you haven't read it lately. Whenever I am going through trying times in my life, I read that passage and then I talk to my FATHER. And this is the gist of what I say to HIM, "Owing to your faithfulness FATHER, I know that everything in my life is going to be okay because you have already told me so in your word. I have just finished reading from the book of Job, Chapter 38. So for the times, as now, that I have the thought in my mind, 'This isn't fair what's happening to me... But I didn't do anything.' I repent FATHER. I am so sorry and ask YOU to forgive me. You see FATHER, I forgot to remember that ultimately, everything that happens in my life, YOU have control of. I also know that when Job was going through what he was going through, nothing could happen to him without YOUR say so. YOU limited how much the adversary could do to him just like you limit how much turmoil the adversary can inflict upon me. I also know that YOU brought Job through okay. But you didn't stop there. You had that recorded in the Bible, YOUR book, because one day, you knew that there would be workers in your vineyard who would need reassuring when they had to go through similar things in their lives. Thank YOU for your thoughtfulness, sweetness, and YOUR kindness (All of which are referred to in Jeremiah 9:24 as loving kindness.) YOU gave us hope when you had all of the episodes recorded in the Bible about how you took care of your people back in Biblical times. And just as YOU took care of them back then, because YOU are faithful, YOU will take care of us now. I forgot to remember all of the times before in my life when I have wrung my hands and cried unto YOU and YOU brought me through. I forgot to remember that YOU took care of me in my mother's womb and have brought me on down to this present moment. But, I did not forget to remember that YOU said that if we wanted to boast about something, to boast about YOUR loving kindness, justice and righteousness, for YOU said that YOU delight in these things. So I have rekindled my hope and am going to keep working and serving YOU and doing what it is that YOU would have me to do. I praise YOU; I bless YOU; and I thank YOU as I brag on YOU, FATHER!"
Dear reader, I do apologize for the length of this post, but not for the post itself. My motto of my life's journey is, "Doing What I Can, While I Can and that includes encouraging my fellowman. On tomorrow, I will continue my blog by talking about why things happen to us and what to do about it when they do. Today you got to read what I do in adverse times. Meet me on the page of my blog and bring a friend or two with you and we will continue...
Note: Wow! This blogging session today has proven to be quite long. I only touched the tip of the iceberg of my notes on this subject! Since I have done so much work on this, I think that I will give you a final snippet on this topic and include it in my upcoming inspirational book, as well.
Until tomorrow or until next we meet...
