Even-then for even-when:
Remember the above phrase from an earlier blog post of mine? I want to call your attention to one scripture: Romans 8:28. That scripture says that all things work together for your good, if you love the LORD. That means that if you are GOD's child, HE's got your back, so to speak. That means that whether it is a small shower, a squall, a tornado, a hurricane, or a supercell like Job from the Bible got hit with, HE still is in control! So you ought not to worry about what is happening in your life to the point where you let it affect your faith! Remember, I told you on yesterday that HE puts a lot of store in faith. If you have it, keep it; if you don't, get it. If you feel it weakening, ask HIM to strengthen it. You might do as I used to do when I first began my "true" walk with HIM. You see, back when I lost my mother, my brother, my home, had the last brother come up shot and sick, and was given a diagnosis of diabetes all within a two year span, I wondered out loud about the scripture, Romans 8:28! I remember saying, "Now I need somebody to tell me what good on earth can come out of this?" Yes folks, I uttered those words from the depths of my soul. I'm not proud of them now, but utter them I did then. Now, mind you, I had always been, what I called close to GOD, or at least I thought that I was. But what I had not realized then, was that my faith was strong because it had never been severely, I say severely tested! When I got hit with what I called a "supercell" of a storm, I squealed, squalled and bellowed like I had no GOD who was my FATHER and WHO is all powerful! You see, I forgot to remember, David, Moses, Daniel, the three Hebrew boys, etc. My faith took a beating, but I held on by a slim thread. Then, when I lost my job and had to learn to do without like I did as a child, that slim thread was practically frayed. BUT! My FATHER had a ram in the bush! My ram turned out to be a gospel spouting, faith building, Bible quoting preacher. When that man of GOD finished walking me through the hall of fame of faith (Hebrews, chapter 11), my faith was rekindled and that small acorn of faith that I did have left, began to sprout, flourish and thrive. I have not forgotten the lessons taught to me through that anointed man's preaching. And you know what else, I will always remember something that that preacher said in his message. He said, we get so caught up in the blind panic of the moment, that we forget to remember to look back on the even-then times in our lives and use them to get us through the even-when times in our lives. My storm blessed me in that I will never forget again to remember when HE brought me through. I will always look back to the even-then times when I used to wring my hands in despair like I was an orphan with no FATHER and remember how, HE coddled me and rocked me in my midnight hours. My blessing is that my storm caused me to get closer to HIM than I thought was possible. My blessing is that I can use the memory of how HE brought me through to sustain me in any present difficulties (storms) and in any future difficulties. Don't you see? My blessing is that I can use the past times(even- thens) to get me through the future storms (even-when's).
If I sound excited, it's because HE loved me enough to bless me through my storm and to have me be repeatedly blessed through that supercell blessing of a storm. Lastly, HE blessed me so that I can bless you in your storm... If you are not in a storm right now, be thankful and batten down the hatches because, one thing about it, you either just got out of a storm, are heading into one. Just remember to look for your blessing in your storm and let the storm draw you closer to HIM instead of driving a wedge between you and HIM. That will give your enemy cause to pause and scratch his/her head. (Tee hee) Now, you be blessed so that you can bless somebody else. I just did!!!
Gotta' go now; I feel like bellowing out the song, One More Sunny Day! Hallelujah, praise the LORD!
