Well, well, well! Where do I start? Oh my goodness me! Where are my manners?
Good morning! Top of the morning to you! Me? I am fine. Thank you for asking? :)
Now that I have taken care of the common courtesies, I will continue my little story for you. As I was about to say, I am in a cheerful mood. Why? Well, why not? "Come what may, a sour mood will not make anything better", is what I always say.
I have a little box that is chock full of stuff that has been crammed into it since Sunday. Wait a minute; there I go again, getting ahead of myself. :) Let me begin at the beginning. I got up humming a tune Sunday morning and the morning proceeded pretty much as usual. You know, morning hygiene ritual, breakfast, usual forty minute drive to worship, etc. We had a good worship service and after it was over, I had to attend the ladies room. Well, my husband picked up my "stuff", in the meantime and took it to the car, trusting soul that he is. Yes, you guessed it; he left the car unlocked, and came on back into the building.
I exited the ladies' room and started toward the exit since I noticed that the lights had been turned off. I took two steps and remembered that my things were still on the seat up front where I left them. When I got to where I usually sit (yes, am guilty of having a favorite seat like most of you, tee hee) I saw that the seat was empty and surmised that he had taken my things to the car for me. So, I went to the car and the front door was ajar. That surprised me, but I saw my purse and my black bag that I usually keep my iPad in, so no problem, right? Wrong! (But I did not know this at the time.)
At any rate, we had been invited to dinner at a local eating establishment by one of the members and his wife. We had an enjoyable meal and fellowship together and we left the restaurant replete. When we got to the car, I went to look in my black bag for my iPad so that I could play a quick game of one of my favorite free downloads. I could not find it, so I looked a little harder. Then I realized that it was just not there. My husband, noticing my frantic searching, said to me, "You must have left it on the seat at the building." I let him get away with that statement because I was so concerned about getting to my iPad, right? So, there we went. Heading back to the building. It seemed to me that that man drove 20mph all the way to the building. I know he did not, but that is how it seemed to me. I told him, at one point, that maybe he ought to let me drive. He just looked at me and kept driving. My stomach was in knots by this time. Well when we got to the building, he got out of the car and went inside to retrieve my iPad. He stayed a little longer than necessary and the first frisson of alarm started to creep up my spine. I unbuckled my seatbelt and was getting out of the car, when he exited the building with a puzzled frown on his face while shaking his head slowly from side to side.
I jumped out of the car and went into the building, my body starting to become coldly and methodically calm. (I tend to do that when a situation has become dire, only to go to pieces when the crisis is over. I have been told that that is the beginning of shock; I would not know, as I am not a medical professional.) So, we looked the building over, high and low, the restrooms, the basement, etc., no iPad!
I think that I have used enough of your time today, so I think that I will wrap this narrative up until our next blogging session. Okay? But in the meantime, you try to figure out, "What happened to the iPad?"
(to be continued...)
Until next time,
Alma Jones
